Artist Princess Smith Curates CREATE Art Exhibition

Artist Princess Smith is on a mission to create a culture and connection to African American art in Tampa Bay.  After curating her first exhibition in 2016, Princess has gone on to become one of the most sought-after artists in Tampa Bay. She is motivated to share that same spotlight with fellow artists who may be under the radar.

The goal has always been to represent African-American art in the most positive and productive way that I possibly can.

A New Approach To Gallery Exhibits

Smith recently sat with Bryan Gray of FOX 13 News to discuss the underlying passion behind curating an art exhibition that solely benefits local artists. “The goal has always been to represent African-American art in the most positive and productive way that I possibly can. Many artists may never see their work hung in a gallery. It’s time to break the mold and give them a genuine opportunity to have their work properly curated for an audience of art enthusiasts.

CREATE: The Art of Expression Exhibition - brings 8 local African American artists to the forefront and celebrates their unique ability to elevate the art world. The no commission exhibition will highlight the importance of supporting artists and creating genuine opportunities for their voices to be heard.

Featured artists Brenda Bohannon, Tracey Jones, Natalie Merine, Natalie Jones, Bernice Smith, Lakeema Matthew, Sage The Poet, Nneka Jones and Princess Smith will display unique artistic expressions that address prevalent societal issues.

The Exhibition will be held on February 22nd, 2020 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at THJCA Event Center 2005 N. Lamar Ave, Tampa, FL 33602.
